Le patch cord (bretelle o cavi patch) sono l’elemento fisico di collegamento e permutazione, dal lato armadio centrale tra i patch panel e gli apparati (switch, router, server, ecc.) e dal lato periferico tra la presa utente e l’utilizzatore (PC, Telefono, stampante ecc.).
Realizzate con trefoli in rame AWG26 che permettono al cavo di essere flessibile e sottile.
La guaina che le riveste può essere in PVC oppure in LSHF.
I plug di terminazione sono pressofusi a filo del Plug.

Se ne possono trovare in commercio da pochi centimetri (utili per collegare due apparecchi impilati uno sull’altro), fino ad alcuni metri.
Un cavo UTP (unshielded twisted pair, doppino ritorto non schermato) è costituito da quattro coppie di conduttori di rame ritorti (quattro coppie di cavetti, quindi otto in tutto), è estremamente flessibile e adatto a lavori in piccoli spazi.
Cavo e connettore sono attentamente controllati per garantire alta velocità e assenza di errori di trasmissione.
Dispone di connettore RJ45 maschio e non è necessario effettuare lavori di crimpatura.

La normativa CPR non riguarda i cavi patch di rete: riguarda solo i cavi a muro in installazioni fisse.
Quindi la richiesta di certificazione CPR dei cavi patch da PC a presa muro non è richiesta.
